How to pack jewelry & watches for shipping
Ship jewelry in PLAIN packaging — no logos, no "Tiffany & Co" markings, no jeweler letterhead. Jewelry shipments get stolen at sorting facilities. A plain bubble mailer that looks like every other package is your best theft prevention.
For valuable jewelry ($500+), require signature confirmation. USPS, UPS, and FedEx all offer it for $3-5 extra. Worth it — without signature, claims for "lost" packages are 10× harder to win and stolen merchandise is rarely recovered.
Always insure jewelry above $100. USPS Priority Mail includes $100 insurance free, but you should declare the actual value at checkout for additional coverage. UPS/FedEx require declaring high-value at the counter.
Wrap loose stones, rings, and small items in tissue paper INSIDE a jewelry box, then place that box in a snug bubble mailer. Without the inner box, items slide around in the mailer and can fall out if the mailer tears at a corner.
