How to pack electronics for shipping
Use anti-static (pink) bubble wrap for circuit boards, motherboards, and bare components. Standard bubble can build static charge that fries chips. Pre-assembled devices in their retail cases are usually fine with regular bubble.
For laptops, use a box with at least 2" of cushioning on all sides. The screen is the most fragile component — never let it directly contact the box wall. Screen-side faces UP if you mark "this side up" on the box.
PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles ship best in their original boxes inside an outer shipping box. The retail box is too thin alone — drops will crack the disc drive every time. Double-box with 2" of foam or air pillows.
Remove all batteries from devices before shipping if possible (or declare them on the carrier label). USPS, FedEx, and UPS all have rules around lithium batteries — non-removable batteries are usually fine but external/spare batteries can ground a shipment.
